A new rose blooming for Olivia
Our Honey Olivia
A second rose has been cultivated and named for Olivia Newton-John only months before stage one of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre opens.
The new ‘Our Honey Olivia rose’, a honey coloured variation of the original apricot-pink ‘Olivia Newton-John rose’, was unveiled to the public for the first time at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show, Wednesday March 28th 2012.
"There are a number of prominent people, present and past, who have had roses named after them but as far as I can recall Olivia is the only one who has the special honour of a second rose.” said Peter Nosow, the rose grower and breeder behind the first Olivia Newton-John rose.
The original ‘Olivia Newton-John rose’ has helped to raise thousands of dollars for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer & Wellness Centre based at Austin Health in Melbourne. The new ‘Our Honey Olivia rose’ will also help to raise funds, with $1 from the sale of every rose bush being donated towards the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre.
