In addition to our stated objective of providing physical, complementary and patient centred support to patients and their families, the guiding principle of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre is continuity of care.
Continuity of Care
We believe that the transition through all phases of illness should be seamless, ensuring the maximum convenience and the minimum of stress for patient and carer.
Patients develop close and important relationships with caregivers. Continuity of care with physicians, nurses and allied health professionals is maintained throughout the course of the treatment.
Palliative and Terminal Care If death should occur with dignity, without pain and in a supportive environment.
Palliative care is primarily directed at providing relief to a terminally ill person through symptom management and pain management. The objective is to provide comfort and maintain the highest possible quality of life for as long as life remains.
In keeping with the Centre's emphasis on wellness, our programs also address mental health and spiritual needs. The focus is not on death, but on compassionate specialised care for the living.
Our Mission Our mission is to lead and excel in patient care, teaching and research for the benefit of our diverse communities.
Our Values Our work is guided by the quest for integrity, collaboration, accountability, respect, excellence and empathy.
